Another sunny day, we set off for the Barragem at about 9.30, we are heading inland today, we will miss the sound of the Atlantic but we’re not sorry to be leaving behind the almost constant wind.
We managed to stay off toll roads again and negotiated our way around Lisbon and managed to avoid the 2km long 25 de Abril suspension bridge. I don’t like suspension bridges but Paul wanted to go over it.
The Aire is lovely, we are parked next to the dam with a wonderful view over the reservoir. There are a lot of vans parked here, the Aire is just about full. There are a couple big RV’s, some of the vans look like they have been here for a while.
There is a bar and restaurant on the road to the barrage just a short walk from where we’re parked.
We are parked next to a nice English couple who are on their way back from the Algarve, they have given us some sat nav co-ordinates of places they have stayed.
This evening we walked a little way around the Barragem, the reservoir is huge and the view from the dam wall down into the valley as the sun was setting was lovely.
It’s eight o’clock and you can’t see your hand in front of your face it’s very dark and very quiet. I think we will sleep well tonight.
It did get very cold when the sun went down .
