Location: Wild Camping next to the beach at Vila Nova de Milfontes

We decided that today we would move on, we’re going to head for Vila Nova de Milfontes as Steve and Launa who we met at the last site have camped there and were kind enough to give us the Sat Nav co-ordinates.

We packed up the van and were ready to leave but the van would not start, Ray kindly gave us a junp start from his car and we were off.

We can’t understand why the battery was flat we have a battery master fitted so it shouldn’t have happened. We called in at the supermarket to get water and food and the ecomarche filling station for diesel and LPG. The LPG pump is on the far right hand side as you pull in, access was easy.

We were both so relieved when the van started first time when we set off again.

The road that we travelled on to Vila Nove was appalling, pot holes, deformed carriageway, road works with stupid huge ramps that make you feel like your teeth are going to fall out. We hit one ramp and I swear the motorhome took off like the dukes of hazard.

We drove for sometime before we found somewhere to stop for coffee and some lunch. There are plenty of places where you can pull off the road but many of them drop off so much we don’t like to use them, also there are no signs telling you that there’s a parking place coming up.

We are now parked next to the beach at the side of the road in Vila Nova, there are other motorhomes parked here so we are planning to stay the night but we will be ready to drive off if we are moved on. As I am typing this I can look out of the window across the estuary to the sand dunes and pine forest on the opposite shore.

Both of the main carparks  at the end of the road have height barriers to stop motorhomes from entering but there are parking bays at the side of the road so all the motorhomes have pulled into these.

Paul and I are both tired today, think it’s the horror of the van not starting and the bone shaking drive here, I think we will sleep well tonight if we don’t get moved on.
