Day 100 Thursday 19.05.2011
Location:  Enkirch Stellplatz, Mosel Valley, Germany
Long / Lat: N 49º59.014’ E 007º07.288’
This morning we found an out of town shopping complex near Zell, we were hoping to find a supermarket as the little shops in the towns are very expensive. There are 3 supermarkets, Lild, Aldi and Globus, this is a superstore selling everything. There is motorhome parking in the Globus car park and the attendant told us you can stay overnight there free of charge for up to 3 nights. The supermarket also has a fuel station which is much cheaper that most on the Mosel, diesel 1.37€ ltr and LPG 0.76€ ltr. Co-ordinates N 50º01.717’ E 7º09.433’.

As we were near to Zell we decided to check out the stellplatz, there are two in the town we stopped at the larger one as this has parking for longer vans. There parking is on grass with views of the river, there is a swimming pool and tennis courts next to it. 6.00€ for 24 hours, there’s a service point with water 0.50€ for 4 minutes but no electricity.
Enkirch Stellplatz, Mosel Valley –
We drove on a few km to the stellplatz at Enkirch, this is a much nicer place to stay. It’s a huge stellplatz with space for about 200 vans and it’s one of the busiest we have stopped at but it doesn’t feel crowded. We are parked on grass next to the river, there is a train line on the opposite bank of the river but it’s not noisy, it’s a local line with a two carriage train that runs up and down to meet the river ferry. There is a small road between us and the river but it’s very quiet, it seems to be used only by bicycles and vehicles accessing the vineyards.
The Enkirch stellplatz costs 6.00€ a night and 1.50€ for 24 hours electricity. There is a service point and water is free at the moment but there are new water points under construction and it looks like you will have to pay once these are in operation. We are planning on staying here over the weekend as a lot of Germans seem to have Fridays off and the roads get very busy from Friday to Sunday.
A man who looked like he was wearing German national costume came to collect our money and open the electricity box for us.
